Totnes is a lovely town with a busy high street bustling with independent shops. https://www.visittotnes.co.uk/
We are so lucky to have this town close by! Its thriving array of independent shops sell fantastic homewares, food, clothes and much more. Well worth a look.
There is a number of butchers, I would recommend Halls (famous for their home made scotch eggs!) or McCabes or Halls Family Butchers on the lower part of the high street. You can get all meat and game that you might want for all those special meals.
Totnes Market runs every Friday and Saturday morning and is a lovely place to go and visit, potter and get a few things at, lots of foodie stalls and other bit and bobs!
Friday and Saturday morning has an amazing fish van on the market at the top of the high street selling a variety of fish a lot of which comes directly from the fish market in Brixham (10 miles away)
There are lots of health food shops and interesting little artisan outlets so please do support Totnes and take a bit of time to potter around.
If you’re after a supermarket there is a Morrisions in the town centre which has a big car park (with 2 hours free parking if you use the shop).
Sainsburys, Waitrose and Tesco all deliver to The Shippon, please just ensure that if you would like a delivery on a Friday that you book it after you arrive or the cleaning team will take delivery between 12.00-14.00 (please order carrier bags otherwise they have to unpack your boxes which can take ages!).
There’s a big Majestics close to the Morrison petrol station which delivers and has a lovely team that is very helpful when you aren’t sure which wine to get!
Salcombe

Another town well worth a visit, with a vibrant shopping centre and lots of places to eat and have a drink whilst soaking up the beautiful views of the Estuary.
Dartmouth

A beautiful town at the mouth of the River Dart and great thing to do is catch the boat from Totnes to Dartmouth, then the steam train from Dartmouth (Kingswear) to Paignton and an open top bus back to Totnes. Fun for everyone!
